Our beloved Cocker Spaniel, Ginny, passed over on June 21st, 2013 after a log battle with arthritis and liver disease. Making the decision to put her down was devastating. We arranged for at home euthanasia and she died peacefully in our arms. She was 14.5 years old.
Ginny was my baby - I had raised her from a 6 week old puppy. I was disabled with shock, grief and guilt the first night without her and didn't sleep. The next day, I prayed several times to God to let me know she was OK and didn't hate us for making the decision to put her down.
I finally was able to sleep and almost immediately I had a dream. Ginny appeared by the side of the bed - she was young, healthy and beautiful. She jumped up on the bed between me and my husband and we spent several minutes cuddling and petting her. The entire time, she kept telling us she was OK and all was well and that she loved us. She was so happy and it was a wonderful dream. And then it was over.
I woke up my husband and told him what happened. He said "God answered your prayer, didn't he? She's with Him now and she is OK". I felt such a sense of relief. I knew where she was, that she was OK, that she was accepting of her passing - and that she still loved us.
