Chelsea The Wonder Dog

We got Chelsea when she was 9 weeks old,she was a Rottweiler/Collie and the most intelligent puppy. She was toilet trained within a week and understood simple instructions at 12 weeks. She was the most loving dog in the world, we just loved her so much and she did not have any health problems until she was 9 and developed arthritis.

She was put on medication for this but a few months later Nov 2014 she started to be sick and lethargic. We took her to the vet for blood tests and x-rays but they came back okay. When it continued as she was not getting better we took her back to the vet to be put to sleep as we could not bear to see her suffer anymore, however as soon as she got to the vets she perked up and he gave her more meds. After that she started to rally and eat again but on Jan 4th she started refusing food again.

On the 6th Jan her breathing was laboured and I rang a friend and asked if he could take me to the vets at 3 o'clock if she was no better (my partner was out) I sat with her and held her paw and stroked her and told her that she was going to doggy heaven and how much we loved her and she died at 2.43 just before my friend was due to take me to the vets.

My partner is convinced that that is where she wanted to die and we buried her in the garden along with a few of her favorite toys. I still kiss my favourite picture of her every morning and her lead is still hanging by the door as I can't bear to think that if her spirit is about she will think that I have forgotten about her.

I find it very hard to cry but want to and I have started to by writing this. I am so down and will not think of getting another dog. She was one of a kind, even the cat Jack misses her. Thank you for reading my story, I am grateful.
