On the day that I knew that today had to be the last day of suffering, we went for a short walk. We encountered an old man walking alone. I'd never seen this man before on any of our walks. He told me I had a nice dog and offered her a milk bone - which she happily accepted.
Later, when we arrived home two Jehovah Witnesses came to the door. They too patted her head and said you have a nice dog. Little did either of these people know she was in her last hours.
To me, these kind encounters were visits from my Higher Power letting me know that He would take care of her for eternity.
I miss her terribly but I have faith and believe that she will greet me at the Rainbow Bridge when my time comes, just like she did everyday when I returned home.
Sleep, my dear Brandy, for we will have many more walks together another day.
