I am very sorry for your loss of Ellie Mae. I know you are going through an extremely difficult time.
You're not crazy Bette, bringing Ellie Mae home in a wooden box. She's with you and your family, where she's safe. We did the same for my beloved Spike (he's here at Pet Loss Matters too). I put Spike's box above the mantle where he used to sleep on the loveseat. I have his photo in a frame next to his ashes. I say say hi (and talk) to Spike almost daily. It's very comforting...
