Your Pet Loss Poems

'Daisy's Poem'

by JD
(Australia)

What is this world I have not known
A prison with no bars to hone

My grief is everything to me
It sees the tears run down my cheeks

What I would give to see your face
And have your presence fill this space

I wish to hear and feel your touch
Your gentle purr and fur with hush

And should you be with me again
I will be rid of this long pain

In the midst of gloom and fray
You smiled at me that last day

To occupy my soul and mind
You're more than what I hoped to find

In a friend that's been so dear
You gave me so much every year

And even though we are apart
You're still the beat within my heart.
