'Dogs Are On Loan'

Dogs are on loan,
It is sad but true.
Instant best friends,
My heart just knew.

Dogs are on loan,
Heaven sent him down.
I had a hole in my heart,
And he filled it proud.

Dogs are on loan,
Oh the fun we did share.
Running, fetching, cuddling,
A love beyond compare.

Dogs are on loan,
The years passed too quick.
We were inseparable,
And then he got sick.

Dogs are on loan,
I held him so tight.
I kissed him and hugged him,
And he lost his fight.

Dogs are on loan,
I will never forget.
He waits for me now,
There are no regrets.

Dogs are on loan,
So I must let him go.
I will adopt a new friend,
Because my heart just grows.

Dogs are on loan,
He was so loved.
Forever remembered,
Sent from above.
