This was a lovely poem. I was looking for something short and sweet to read at my dog's "funeral" services (low-key and in the backyard). Your poem was perfect. It was short enough, but said exactly what I was looking for. We simply changed out your "Chubs" name, for our dear friend "Abby". (I hope you don't mind.) Your poem was also appropriate for my little ones to hear. Some of the poems out there for the situation would have been too confusing and too wordy for my little ones to hear. Yours was perfect in every way... exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much... I hope you don't mind us borrowing it for the afternoon. My heart goes out to your "Chubs".
