'I Wish I Had Known'

Lindy at Christmas

Lindy at Christmas

I wish I had known
About the growing tumor in your spleen
Something the vet should have seen.

I wish I had known
That the gentle panting you did
Had to do with the secret you hid.

I wish I had known
When I took you to the vet
All she gave was an arthritis tablet.

I wish I had known
When you lay rigid that night
It was with pain and fright.

I wish I had known
When you licked Bruno's ears
It was your goodbye for all those years.

I wish I had known
That dreadful day
On the 13 May

I wish I had known
It was your time to say goodbye
No opportunity to even try

I wish I had known......
