'If I Were A Poet'

by Mimi
(California)

If only I were a poet, I could do you justice.
I would be able to show the world your beauty.
I could take words... lovely, stunning, vibrant words,
and make them in to a portrait of you.

I could bring to life.... your eyes, your fur.
How your eyes sparkled at me.... in mischief.
How your fur smelled.... of comfort and joy.
Your meow. Raspy, urgent and loving at the same time.

Oh, how I miss you.
My best boy, my furry soul mate.
I am bitter with longing, I am stunned by my losses.
I need you so much, and death has stolen you from me.

I can live without you, but life is not the same.
My wounds slowly heal,
but my heart cannot ever be whole.
This void cannot be filled by any other being.

I wish I were a poet, I could bring to life
the essence that was you, Geegers.
But I am not, so I lay here... your sister purring softly by my side...
and cry silent tears, and hope that somehow.... you know
and are with me, in some way.... once more.
