'My Eternal Friend'

The news sinks in
I've lost my friend,
Your life has sadly
Come to an end.

It's hard to believe
You're gone from me,
Do you watch down from heaven
Send me a sign if you see.

Your toys on the floor
Which always seemed to scatter,
Little things like that
Showed the world how much you matter.

Your food and water bowls
Turned upside down,
Made me get cross
But my heart would never frown.

A golden heart stopped beating
But your love will never rest,
God broke my heart so he could prove
He only takes the best.

I'll never stop loving you
Each and every day,
In my heart you're still here
If only I'd made you stay.

Although you're no longer on earth
In my heart you've left a stain,
And I'll never forget you
In my heart you will remain.

And as my last command
The last one I shall send,
Please wait for me in heaven
As my eternal friend.
