Your Pet Loss Poems

'My Precious Pug Winnie'

by Mardi
(Ontario, Canada)

A week has passed since we helped you depart,
A sad decision that broke my heart.

Fifteen and a half years went by so fast,
I prayed many more days that you would last.

But with each passing day,
Illness was taking you away.

You were a wonderful kind friend,
Whose gentle ways lasted till the end.

Your love of family and feast kept you strong,
Even as it was difficult you hobbled along.

You ate religiously at six and three,
The rest of the time you spent attached to me.

I cherished the last years knowing time was going fast,
And on your shadow darkness would eventually cast.

So fly free my sweet, sweet boy, the heavens await,
And we will meet again in love at the rainbow gate.

Love Mommy
