'My Sophie Moon'

Sophie

In the cover of the night,
But full moon had made you glow
You sat on haunches and looked up at me,
Your eyes, they told me so.
We’ve been companions for all these years,
Through everything that’s past
And in these final days together,
These walks will be our last.
As I watched you scout the woods and bog,
And walk through golden hay,
I made in mind a mental note,
To not forget this day.
In the cover of the night,
But full moon had made you glow,
In our eyes, we knew together,
That it was time for you to go.
You’ve been my girl from long ago,
And though you are not here,
My sweet best friend, my dog, my love,
In full moon, you’re always near.
