'Sweet Comforter'

My Poem for Billie-Bee

O Sweet Comforter

At the end, be my protector and friend

Release me from this earthly chain,

Free me from agony and pain

Carry me up upon your breast

Where I will know sweet blessed rest

Safely wrapped within your wing

Take me to the meadow where the sparrows sing

And the sun shines warm on lilac's perfume

Nestled in splendor where the roses bloom

Comfort mine, who are left to mourn

Comfort mine, whose hearts are torn

Remind them with spring, my undying love

And send them peace of the mourning dove.
