I had a Toad named Toader
by: Dara Chapman

I had a toad named Toader. She was a great pet. I wanted to release her back into the wild, but I thought she had lived with me for so long that she would not make it through the harsh Chicago winters. I loved her so much. She was a part of our family and helped me to heal when I felt so bad. I would take her outside to feed or I would feed her cat food that I moved around to simulate a moving treat. She lived over 11 years and I still miss her terribly. She was so fun to play with and watch. She loved to bury herself in the sand. I love her and I miss her. Thank you for your poem. It was very healing for me.
