'Jasmine the Chicken'

Little Jasmine died in my arms today as I was trying to treat her and help her get well. She was only 4 but suddenly took sick a couple of days ago. This is a farm and Jasmine was a hard-working laying hen but I think she had a happy life. She had lots of sisters and got to run all over the place. She also had a pretty nice coop.
Jasmine ruled the roost but she was a benign little dictator and kept the peace among the hens. She never failed to run up to me when I approached. She loved to be picked up and petted and to sit on my lap. She loved to peck at my shoes when I was trying to clean her coop. Broccoli was her favorite treat.
I just buried her under a peach tree. Rest well Jazzie. You will always be my good girl.
