Koby Jones the big, beautiful cat from down the street came to us one day while my husband was out in the side yard doing some chores. He loves cats, as I do as well. So we let him stay for a bit, and he really loved us and our Beagle dog named Max. We knew he belonged to someone else, so after a few days we tried to return him home to his owners. We did, but he showed back up in one of the worst ice and snow storms we had that year!
I had already fallen in love with him, and so we took him back in. The neighbors agreed if this is where he wanted to be, so be it. Max and Koby grew to be best buddies. I can still hear them playing and chasing each other up and down the hallways at night. We were so blessed to have them both. The time came when Max became so sick, and we had to say goodbye. This tore open my heart, and Koby Jones missed him too, and did his own time of grieving for him as well.
We eventually got another dog, much bigger, and Koby and the new dog finally bonded after some time. We lost Koby in May of last year, and it's been so difficult. He was such a good kitty, and he chose us... and we chose him.
His passing brought back all the feelings of loss again, but I wouldn't trade all that grief and loss for anything. He was such a huge part of our lives, and always will be. So sad, but so blessed to have had them both.
