'My Beautiful Meggie May'

by Lorraine
(Banbury Oxfordshire)

It's been 2 days since I lost my best friend Meg. She had been fighting cancer for 18 months and it finally took its toll. A few weeks ago she went downhill quite quickly so it was decided that we had to put her to sleep.

It was a very difficult decision and I'm feeling an overwhelming guilt over that decision. Everyone I speak to says it was the best thing, but on the day she left us she hid from the vet. She knew what was going to happen and I just wish that I didn't make her come out of her safe place.

I and my family miss her terribly and are finding it hard to cope. She was the most beautiful dog I have ever known and no other will take her place.
