'Gigi'

by Karen
(East Peoria, Il. USA)

Gigi was just a dog

That loved me unconditionally.

That spoke to me with her eyes.

That met me at the door every evening doing twirls.

That would lie on my lap when asked to keep me warm.

That kissed me if she thought I was sad.

That made me feel, needed and loved and protective of her.

Yes she was a huge part of my world.

She loved to go boating with her life jacket on.

She loved to go driving sitting on my knee watching traffic.

She loved it when the kids came over to visit, greeting each person with enthusiasm and licks.

She loved to play a game with her ball called bowling for bones.

She was ferocious with her stuffed animals, always beating them into submission.

She was a beggar of every type of food. Peanut butter was one of her all time favorites.

She sat under the table just knowing that someone would drop something.

She loved to sleep in bed with us and snuggle under the covers when it was cold.

She was such a good little girl, minding me even when she didn't want to.

Gigi was just a dog, that we loved like a child and at 12 years and ten months old we lost her forever.

The grief is overwhelming, for just a dog.
