'Tabby'

by Irene Nestor
(White Plains, NY USA)

I got Tabby when she was four years old and she lived to be eighteen and one half, which is old for a cat. She wasn't well for 8 months before her death so I had time to prepare myself for her passing, but I didn't let go.

I would have done anything for her. She was such a devoted, loving companion and quirky, intelligent and fun too. My memories of her haven't faded at all, and it has been fourteen months since she died.

It is easy for me to remember her and the way she was. A pet you have a strong bond with is a permanent connection. At least it was with me. When I think of her I feel loved. It was her gift to me.
