Goodbye to Apollo, Our Littlest Sun God

I met my husband in 2006, he was a game changer for me. We became fast friends - no other relationship had come close to the bond we shared almost instantly. It didn't take long for us to realize we were it for each other.

Less than a year after we met my husband's parents and I were attending a benefit for the local high school which had recently burned down (because that actually happens apparently.) I remember looking through the various to be auctioned off items and I came upon a very small kennel with the tiniest, sweetest little Jack Russell Terrier puppy inside. He was white with dark brown ears, his coloring was perfect, he just looked so vulnerable and I couldn't help form an instant attachment.

A short time later we swiftly realized my soon to be in-laws had bought this darling little puppy for us and for a great cause, we were just ecstatic. I'd never had a dog of my own before, he was the best little fur child. We had complete puppy love for our little Apollo, aptly named as his favorite pastime has always been sunbathing.

9 years later, we'd moved time and again, been through college and many jobs, brought a soon to be two year old daughter into our family and Apollo had been with us through it all. He was the most incredible dog who died unexpectedly just this morning. It was so fast, one moment he was barking more than usual and the next he was unresponsive, we didn't know what was happening until he was almost gone.

We'll never know and that breaks our hearts, he was supposed to be around for many years to come. Rest in peace buddy, we're sorry we couldn't save you.
