'Bruno - Until We Meet Again My Friend'

by Anthony Sene
(Gibraltar, Europe)

My best friend Bruno passed away on Saturday 7th July 2018. I thank God that he lived a very long life and that although we had to put him to sleep it was at the right time.

He passed away peacefully and I know one day I will be with him again in heaven yet all this does not in any way make it less painful. I feel an overwhelming sadness and a great sense of loss. Given his age and different health issues I was well aware that his time here was short yet nothing can prepare you when you actually realise he is not physically with you anymore.

This is the hardest time I have ever been through and although I constantly dreaded this time it is much worse than what I thought it would be. I miss him big time and our home will never be the same without him around but until I meet him again he will always always be in my heart.

17 years with my Min Pin is a very long time and again I thank the Lord Jesus that he granted me my wish when I declared after he suffered a bad epileptic fit in April 2017 that he would live 17 plus. This time round I knew his time had come I sensed his little aching body was too tired to carry on and he himself was giving up.

That morning hours before we took him to the vet for the last time he was restless as he had been for most of the night so I stroked his little head, kissed him and told him he was going to a much better place that Jesus would now take good care of him and that one day we would meet again. As I was saying this he fell soundly asleep. I am sure he understood every word I had said so when we took him to the vet he was totally at peace.

Leaving the clinic without him, knowing there was no way I was going to come back to pick him up was the worst feeling I have ever experienced. So 1 week on and not a day goes by when I cry at some point all I want is to hold him tight and kiss his little head.

Miss you baby forever by my side.
