Your Pet Tributes

'Blaze'

To my sweet boy,

I remember calling the animal shelter the day after Christmas to ask if they had any smaller dogs available, since the townhouse we lived in wouldn't take large pets. They said they just got a dog in they day before Christmas Eve that was the size we were looking for.

Chad and I saw you in that cage and you were nervous and shaking. They said your previous owners had to move to an apartment so they couldn't take you with them and that you were about one or two years old. Your Dad took you out of that cage and we took you outside to pee and you jumped up on my knees, we both knew you were the dog for us.

On the ride leaving the shelter you stood up on the middle console of our car looking around nervously. We went in Walmart to pick up some food, treats and toys for you and came back to the car and you were asleep in the passenger seat.

Your Uncle Eric bought you a toy hedgehog that squeaked and you loved to chase it and chew it to hear the noise! We took you on walks to the park and you would bark at every passing bike rider passing us on the trail! We discovered you loved wet dog food in cans and we called it your "corgi sue sue" and when we said those words your tail would wag and you would give the most excited bark.

When I became pregnant with Blake I think you knew our family was growing. You would "nibble" your Dad and it would always make us laugh. Blake was born and I took a picture of you sniffing him in his car seat when we brought him home.

You went on trips with us to the beach and you would always put your leash in your mouth and run away which made us laugh. You loved your Grandma and she always gave you table scrapes every time she got off from working nights. Your next brother Landon was born and you accepted him as you did Blake.

Eighteen months later we decided that you were ready to get a doggie brother (even though you loved being the alpha dog of the house) you accepted your hyper brother Rigby. You taught him some good and bad habits and I feel like he gave you more energy because you were about nine or ten years old at that time.

We used to laugh at you running laps as fast as you could around the yard when you would get your random boosts of energy! You still loved going on walks in the woods and sniffing everything you could! We knew this past December your time with us was dwindling down but you made it through Christmas and that was the best present we could have received.

You made your voyage to the Rainbow Bridge March 6 in your Dad's arms. Blaze I miss you so much it hurts so bad and I can't stop crying for you. No one will ever replace you and even though I'm in so much pain now being your owner for the past 14 years has brought me so much happiness.

I love you my boy and I can't wait to one day be with you again.
