It Will Get Better
by: Joe

People say not to compare one loved one with another, but it's only natural to do so sometimes, especially if your new pet is the same species as the one who has passed on to a better place. One day you will look back and when you think about Blue, your thoughts will be only happy thoughts, the good times you shared.

Nothing can replace those shared experiences, but time can pull out the good ones and leave the bad ones behind. In the meantime, you and your new loved one will have new experiences, new good times, and as you do, the pain of the old experiences will fade into oblivion. It took me years to think about our family cat Tiger and not feel pain. But it did happen.

I think it will take me years to think about Sugarfoot, my beloved cat who left for that better place just a few months ago, and not feel pain--but already I'm starting to remember the wonderful things about him, too. The pain is fading; it is being submerged by good memories. The pain will fade for you too in time. Life and all the things of it will get better.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Joe
