Your Pet Loss Stories

'My Hope In A Rainbow'

by J Marie Morgano
(Boynton Bch, Fl.)

We are forever linked together.

We are forever linked together.

We are forever linked together. Happy Holidays I love you.

I owned a great dane of 10 wonderful years who was named Duke. He was with me through thick & thin. He was my everything & what a blessing he was. He was very loyal, loving and devoted to me & my son. When I would leave for work, he anxiously awaited my return home on the loveseat. When I had to leave town, he wouldn't eat, go out and it took a lot for my son to get him to do everyday things, he truly loved me.

Duke got water on the knee that popped up over night two years ago and it never went away. It grew but he never showed signs of it ever bothering him. Just a few weeks ago, Duke stopped eating, ran a high fever, & had to be put to rest due to complications of his knee. I am heart broken. I am so sad & I feel such a great loss.

I am a Christian & I believe God never leaves my side & he is with me through this very difficult time in my life. While I am thankful for this, I happen to see a rainbow in the sky a few days after Duke's passing & it brought me great comfort. I still cry, carry his urn with me whereever I go, but knowing that one day I will see him again helps me in my everyday walk.

I miss you Duke. And I hope this helps someone else as God created men and animals alike. He loves them both & I believe he blesses us with pets for comfort & love that is so amazing & unconditional. May we as humans learn a great deal from these furry friends.

R.I.P. Duke Morgano
