Real Life Rainbow Bridge Stories

'Tribute to Manny'

by Vickey
(Meadowview, VA)

I lost my very best friend on Jan 2 2009. He was the light of my life and I found joy with him every day that he was here. I told my Husband when we first got him that I knew that God had sent him to us especially to teach us what unconditional love really is. I know that we love our children and our spouses, but the love of a pet is really the closest thing to the love that our heavenly father has for us.

The first morning that I woke up after he was gone, I awoke to the sound of him walking across the kitchen floor. I could hear it just as plainly as I am telling you this. The next morning when I first opened my eyes, he was there on the pillow beside of me, but just for a second and then he raised his head and looked at me and vanished. The last time I saw him he came to me in a dream. I dreamt that the vet's office called me and told me that he wasn't really gone but that he had been in a coma, but that he was awake now and looking for me. I rushed to pick him up and when I got there he leapt into my arms and was so happy to see me and I was just as happy to see him.

I have not had any experiences since then. I believe that it was his way of telling me good bye, but that he was also letting me know that he would be very glad to see me when the time came for me to join him. I see his loving eyes in the eyes of other people's sweet pets and I am comforted to know that he will be waiting for me when it's my turn to go. I do believe that pets go to heaven because they were created as spiritual beings just as we are.
