Your Pet Loss Stories

'Gracie May (my tiny dancer)'

by Kristi Mullins
(Bloomington IL)

Black Friday of this last year I was in and out all day. Everytime I came home Gracie was so excited to see me. About 5pm I went to take my sons dog outside to go to the bathroom. Gracie stayed behind but started to cry because she wanted to be with me. I came back for her and took her out with me.

She wanted to to go to the bathroom and after she went she started playing this game when she was excited where she runs circles around the house. This time she got confused and ran across the street. I knew what was going to happen and didn't know how to stop it. I yelled Grace NO!! As soon as she made eye contact with me she started running back. A car hit her so hard my son heard it 3 blocks away.

I screamed, we rushed her to the vet and she died about a half hour later. I never knew I could love an animal so much. I used to call her my tiny dancer because she appeared to be dancing when she was excited. I will miss her.
