'The Story of Lucy Cheek'

Lucy Cheek was a 10 year old sweet, loving, obedient beagle and my best friend. She had surgery in November to remove a small mass that we thought may be cancerous. After the surgery, she never got her appetite back. Unfortunately the vet ignored her loss of appetite and she went into kidney failure.

After a week of hospitalization she lost her battle and perished with fluid in her lungs and bleeding from her mouth. She was a cherished loving animal and I have a hole in my heart that will always exist for Lucy. I was able to hold her until she was peacefully put to rest in my arms. I felt her last heartbeat and didn't want to let go of her warm little body.

I will never forget how she only wanted to be near me, loved me when I needed it, was always happy to see me and made me a better person by her presence in my life. Althougth I have two other beagles, she will always be number one in my heart and I will love her forever.

I hope she is keeping my other dogs, Birdie, Sunny and Daffy company in heaven until I get there.
