Your Pet Tributes

'Digby'

by Bleusz
(Indiana)

A few days before he died

A few days before he died

We met in 1996 in a pet store in Illinois; you were standing in the glass cage looking at all of the people coming in and out of the store. All the dogs were barking around you but you just kept staring and not letting anything bother you.

When I went to hold you, you looked around to make sure it was cool to do so. I felt honored to be able to hold you. When I turned you over to play with you I noticed this huge tattoo on your stomach and knew right then that we were destined to become friends.

You were the most beautiful pet I have ever had. The one day you escaped with your sister, Gracey, I drove by and you two were sitting on the side of the road waiting for me. I loved you more than you will ever know.

We both got older and you got sicker. I am sorry I waited so long to do something and I am sorry I couldn’t be there with you to hold you, but with my illness I couldn’t do it, I just couldn’t do it. Please forgive me. I love you and I always will.
