'Morgan'

by Mary
(Vermont)

We adopted Morgan when she was only a month old and brought her home a month later. We can remember how small she was as a puppy, just 6 lbs and one of her first photos was next to a bunch of bananas so we could remember how tiny she was then. She was a red Pembroke Welsh Corgi and probably the sweetest dog that ever lived.

Though she lived with me and my husband, she was instantly bonded to me. In her nearly 13 years of life, she was never more than a few feet from me and always watched over me. I called her my little pumpkin since she was round and orange. She saw me through some very tough times and always seemed to know when I needed her close by. She would give kisses to comfort me. It's almost difficult to put into words the depth of the love I had for her.

Though it's only been 3 days since she slipped away from us, it feels like a lifetime. My heart aches when I think of her. I know in time that these feelings will lessen, but I feel like a part of me is gone.

Morgan: I know you are in a better place now and you are now reunited with Murphy. We miss you both so much and can't adequately explain how much you gave to us over your lifetimes. You were the two best dogs and best friends that ever lived. You will both be in our hearts forever.
