Your Pet Tributes

'Shadow'

by Rose Hume
(Mystic Ct)

To Shadow my 7 week old baby kitten who was born May 2, 2011, and who passed away June 20, 2011. He had passed away from distemper which he had before we got him as we found out from our vet.

We only had him for a week, but he changed my life the day he came to live with us. He was very small for his age and my daughter had to put ointment in his eyes for a eye infection. When he came into a room he would brighten the room. I wish he could have lived longer because he was so much fun to have as a pet. I loved him very much.

Shadow could be so funny, like when he would eat his food he would make sounds that was very funny. He would find very small places he would hide behind or underneath.

Shadow was a black stringy kitten. Shadow had his shots the day after we got him. He was fine until June 18, 2011 a Saturday. He wouldn't eat his food and drank very little and hardly used his litter box. Sunday he was no better. I would try to feed him with a spoon but that didn't work. I put him in our bedroom that night and shut the door. He had food, water and his litter box. I had to get up several times because he would meow until I would pick him up and hold him close. He seemed to like that even though he didn't feel good. I would talk to him telling him I loved him very much.

The following day my husband took Shadow to the vet. The vet told my husband that Shadow would have to stay for 2 hours. Shadows' temperature was 97 and it should be 101. He also was dehydrated and was given intravenous fluids to help him get hydrated. It didn't work because the vet called and talked to my husband and told him Shadow had passed away. That was a very hard time for me. I was upset and cried for my baby Shadow.

I miss you very much and wished we had more time with each other.
