Your Pet Loss Diaries

'Tammy & Sue', UK

About Tammy

Tammy was a westie aged just 16 months when she fell asleep forever.

When did you lose Tammy?

We lost her on Friday 31st October 2008.

At what stage of pet loss grief do you feel you are currently at?

Disbelief, guilty, total devastation. Cannot stop crying and feeling as if I should pull myself together, don't know how I am going to go to work tomorrow. I cannot explain to her Sister where she is and I feel guilty about that as well.

Tammy and Sue's Story so far

Tammy came to us a tiny bundle of fluff and spots a week after her Sister. Oh how they wagged and played in the joy of being reunited, if I did something to one I had to do the same to the other.

I took them to the vet to be vaccinated and micro chipped and to have a nasty rash looked at, that was the beginning of the uphill struggle to erradicate the Demodex that finally took our beautiful baby from us.

Throughout her very short life she endured constant bathing, injections, antibiotics with no lasting effect. Whereas her Sister seems to have grown out of it and finally her immune system has strengthened, Tammy's couldn't and we had to make that final decision that she had suffered enough.

All through her ordeals she never blamed me and would curl up on my lap or (as she was very much a Daddies girl} on her Daddies lap for her cuddles. Oh how I miss her, sorry got to stop I will write more later.
