'Bailey By My Side'

Bailey by Ryan's Side

Bailey by Ryan's Side

Our Bailey Dog went to heaven on 12/17/2008. She was recently diagnosed with a mass on her liver and cushing's disease. She seemed to be doing fairly well considering everything she has been dealing with.

Bailey took a down hill decline shortly after her diagnosis. It became clear that we would have to help her cross over to the Rainbow Bridge before her pain became too much. Goldens are so loyal and stoic. She hid her pain as best as she could. I believe she was protecting my son and I and awaiting her Daddy to come home from Iraq before she would let go.

For 10 wondeful years she was my rock. She and I weathered multiple moves, many long deployments, and becoming a Mommy to our Ryan. She watched over him and protected our son quietly and lovingly. I couldn't watch her suffer any more and my husband agreed to let her go while she still had her dignity and grace about her.

It was a gray gloomy day as we drove to the vet. The last moments with her were so tender and warm. She passed peacefully in my arms as I sang her favorite song, "You are my Sunshine". As I drove home from the vet's office the sun was shining so brightly and beautiful wispy clouds filled the sky. It was as if she was telling me, it is OK Mom, I am happy and fine.

She will forever in our hearts be "Bailey by my side". I know we will see our girl again at the Rainbow's Bridge. Run and play my dear bay-bay till Mommy, Daddy, and Ryan are by your side again.

We love you forever and always.
