Your Pet Loss Stories

'Mr Woo and Hambo'

by Caroline
(Edinburgh)

We had Mr Woo (Our Kentish Boy Boy) put to sleep on 2 April 2008. He had some form of canine dementia and would be awake all night, confused and barking and did not really know what was happening around him.

It broke our hearts, he was 14.5 years old and all the family loved him. Taking him in the car to get put to sleep was horrendous and we are not yet over this experience.

Not long after Mr Woo had gone Hambo started to show clinical signs that all was not well. After in depth tests it came to light that he was suffering from kidney failure. He was admitted to the Dick Veterinary Hospital in Edinburgh, where he received the best of treatment.

After several kidney flushes we got him home. We picked up for a short time and got a phone call from the duty vet at 3 am to say that he had sadly passed away on 4 June 2008 - 9 weeks after Woo passed away.

I miss my boys every day - as does the rest of my family. We have now got 2 beautiful dogs, life was very empty without my other babies.

On a day to day basis - I am trying to cope.

Caroline
