Your Pet Loss Stories

'My Angel Matilda'

by D
(AZ)

Hello, I'm writing in memory of my beloved cat Matilda. I'm 22 years old and I just recently had to deal with the loss of my childhood pet(she was 20 years old!).

Matilda came into my life after my parents took in a stray kitten that had a broken leg. They nursed her back to health and decided to keep her for me as a pet. Her name was Mandy and I was 2 at the time.

Mandy was a wild thing and loved to jump out the window and go on adventures. She ended up having a litter of kittens. We had no room or desire for all those cats so we gave them away. This is where Matilda graces my life. No one wanted her because she was the runt of the litter.

My Mother found her one day curled up in a basket and fell in love with her. Matilda has been there with me through a lot of really hard transitions in my life. My parents separated when I was young and I had to be thousands of miles away from her at one time.

To make a long story short, there is no way of expressing how much she impacted my life. She had a personality all of her own. She purred non stop and was always there when you needed her!

You were always the one constant in my life.
You can never ever be replaced. In loving memory of Matilda!
