Your Pet Loss Diaries

'Cathy & Muffin', Canada

About Muffin

My precious little Muffin, black and white short hair rescue cat, 16 years old.

When did you lose Muffin?

She was diagnosed with mouth cancer June 9, 2010, and we put her to sleep June 21, 2010.

At which stage of pet loss grief do you feel you are currently at?

Beginning. Still find it hard to believe she is gone. Still look for her and have called out her name.

Cathy and Muffin's Story so far

We rescued her from a home where a lady took strays in. She was with another cat Dutchess and we took her too. Muffin was 9 months old and Dutchess was 5 years old. They were buds during the past 16 years and Dutchess is still alive at 20 with kidney disease and seizures. She also had Bart who we took in from the same woman a year before, he is 20 years old too.

I have enjoyed these years with this furry gift from God. She was a crazy girl. Loved to eat ice cream, cheese and ate everything and anything. She had beautiful silky fur. I loved her white tips on her paws and on the end of her tail. The time went by so fast and now she is in "Kitty Heaven" and the Rainbow Bridge.

I hope we meet again. She made my life a better place with her unconditional love. She loved to lick you and rub you. I miss that every day. I know she is in a better place, we made the right decision and she would have been in lots of pain. My head knows that but my heart ahces for her. She also had some crazy meows she had started to do the past year that scared the daylights out of us at times. They were very loud.

I loved her with all my heart and she loved me. I have all these precious memories and lots of pictures. I am also doing a scrapbook of her with poems, letters, pictures. I will be able to read and look at it when I am feeling really sad.

Thank you for this opportunity to share these feelings and memories with you.

One Month Anniversary Today

Jul 21, 2010

Just realized it has been a month since Muffin left us.

Still can't believe it. I miss her very much. Our house seems strange without her loud meows ...
