I just want to say...
by: Anonymous

Hi Rose,

Like you, I am still sad at the recent and tragic loss of my lovely friend, Babes, my dog. I am trying to make sense of it, and when ready, move forward to do what I have learned from him to do, continue to give, share, care, and love because of how he taught me to, and gave me the capacity to do.

I just want to say that even though your experience is sad and unique to you, plus, you will never get over the loss of your family of pets, still, in time, if you allow yourself, you will at least come to terms with your great loss.

Easy for me to write...easy for you to read...yes? No...not easy for me to write, and not easy for you to read. Especially, when you are submerged in your grief.

However, I sincerely encourage you...respectfully...to take the capacity you have for loving and caring for dogs and cats, and continue it on to love and care for even more of these lovely creatures...friends...as you have done before.

Again...apparently easy for me to write, easy for you to read...no! However, I believe it is necessary for me to write this to you, and for you to read this for several reasons.

But...the most important reason is this...there are so many other lovely dogs, and cats out there waiting, needing...for someone to love and care for them. All of them, like your previous family of cats, and dog, SO deserve what you previously offered, and what you can again offer, if...if...you will only allow yourself the opportunity to be healed by them, and again, live in love and care for more members of your family, just like your previous family members who all died as you write, in such a sad short space of time.

I have no answer, and only this letter to offer in response to your letter, but...it is a start, a reminder, that you have the capacity to go forward and help, care, and love for more dogs...for more cats...as a legacy to your previous cats and dogs, or you can stay frozen in time and grief.

You are too giving, too caring, too loving, too important to cats and dogs to stay frozen in grief, much too important. you are needed...please...open your arms and heart again to love, and yes, more grief but remember, just think of the wonderful difference you have made, and can still make, in the lives of those who cannot do it for themselves.

Thank you Rose.
